Music and media workshops

The following workshops run weekly throughout the summer holidays (26th July - 01 Sept) and are open to the general public ages 8 and over. To book a space on the workshops or if you have any questions at all please email us at info@yard1.co.uk or call 07970 636554.

Young people who are eligaabl are also able to access these workshops using their 'Don't Stop Me Now' cards.

Frequently asked questions....

"Do I need to be able to play a musical instrument?"

Being able to play a musical instrument is not at all essential, the workshops are designed to encourage you to have a go and maybe develop an interest in music, film and media.

"What do I need to bring?"

You will nedd to bring some Lunch if you're doing a day workshop but other than that it is uo to you. If you play a musiacl instrument then it would be great if you brought it along and if yo're doing a DJ workshop bring a CD or a USB stick with some of your favorite music.

"Who Takes the workshops"

All our workshops are run by professionals, all 'do what we teach' for a living. We also all work through out the term times with young people through various schools and educational agencies, so have plenty of experience working with people of different ages and abilities.

"I Would like to take part in the workshops but can't do the days that they're on!"

If you are unable to attend the workshops then you're more than welcome to arange for your own workshops with your friends and siblings, we are often booked privatly for Birthday parties etc. Simply call or email us to make arrangements.

*Some of these workshops require a minimun amount of people for them to run, therefore we ask that if you do want to book a workshop that you do so as far in advance as possible. If you have booked a session in advance and there are too few people to allow the workshop to run then you will be able to either reschedual for another day or have a full refund.

Creative Media Workshop

During this workshop you will develop and story board an idea, produce a peice io music to go with it, make a video and finally edit it all together. The actual media could be a TV advert, a Film trailor, a music video or a newsreel. You'll be using the latest tech including Green screen software. Once complete we will premier it on the Big screen here at Yard 1! You will of course be able to take a copy of it aay with you to show freinds and family and maybe develop it further in your own time.

Song Writing Workshop

This workshop teaches you how to structure your own song, from development of the music to the writing of lyrics. The session is taken by a well know singer songwriter.

Music Production Workshops

Learn how professional music studio makes music! Make an original peice of music to take away with you, use synthesisers, samplers, DAWs and mixing consoles. Theis session is taken by one of our studio producers.

DJ workshops

Learn howe to beat mix and scratch using Technic 1210s and CDJs, bring your own music on a CD or USB stick and 'mix it up!'

Film Workshops

Make a TV advert, a film trailor or a newsreel. You will be using Props, green s creen technology and inustry standard software!
